Ambitious regeneration plans in Boscombe… celebrated by Rt Hon Secretary of State Robert Kendrick MP, accompanied by our local MP Tobias Ellwood and leader & Deputy Leader of the Council

Future regeneration plans for Boscombe took centre stage in a visit recently by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick MP. Mr Jenrick went on a walking tour of the area accompanied by BCP Council Lead CouncillorDrew Mellor and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Regeneration Councillor Philip Broadhead. They were accompanied by Chief Executive Graham Farrant, local MP Tobias Ellwood and AFC Bournemouth Chairman Jeff Mostyn who spearheaded the successful multi-agency My Towns Fund Board bit for £22 million announced earlier this year. During the visit he was shown key sites such as the Royal Arcade and precinct, informed about how the ambitious plans for the area will be delivered and discussed the council's biggest ambitions for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area as a whole.…

VE VJ Day on Poole Quay, Sunday, 15th August as part of Festival Coast Live Celebrations

Poole played a key role during the World War II, the flying boats connecting us to the world, Dunkirk small boats, raiding parties, D-Day trials and being one of the largest embarkation points for D-Day itself. The Society for Poole is organising the event on the Quay which commemorates the 75+1 anniversary of the end of the war and depicts some of the stories of the town. The organisers are expecting for 5,000 people to attend and with good weather planned this may actually happen. See image below for more information.

A cleaner welcome to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole with overnight maintenance works planned…

Residents and visitors to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will be benefitting from a cleaner journey along the Wessex Way with overnight maintenance works due to take place on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 August from the Cooper Dean flyover to the County Gates. BCP Council will be cutting back the grass verges, clearing gullies as well as the central reservation, picking up litter and undertaking other essential highways maintenance works as part of the ongoing work on the council’s resilient network, under the Cleaner, Greener, Safer campaign which aims to install a sense of pride in place. The work will take place overnight for seven hours on both nights to minimise disruption to traffic, with the dual carriageway closed from 8.30pm depending on traffic counts.
